How does Chinese National Day holiday affect my production and shipment?

The Chinese National Day holiday 国庆节 falls between the 1st and 7th, 2014.  It marks the 65th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China on October the 1st 1949. It is also the second of two ‘Golden Weeks’ during the Chinese calendar (the other being the Spring Festival 春节, which marks the Chinese New Year).   Our message to clients in advance of this and all holidays is clear..

Place orders sooner rather than later before Chinese National Day holidays.

With many companies and factories working 7 days a week throughout the rest of the year, these 2 weeks are rare periods where the business world in China comes to a standstill. While factories are not operating during this time, it’s important to place an order before Monday 29th of September in order to allow the ordering of raw materials before the holiday commences. This not only ensures that the raw materials are with the factory for when they start up production again, but also that the price can be held all along the supply chain. We often find that following a major holiday in China, the pricing of factories slightly increases; be this that the factory is attempting to cover their lack of income during this period or due to costs of raw materials being higher due to demand backed up over the holiday week.

Placing an order before Monday the 29th of September also ensures that you get your production slot booked early before the backlog following the holiday. It’s an unfortunate reality that the Chinese National Day holiday also falls at the same time everybody around the world is panicking they haven’t placed their Christmas orders yet.

Don’t be left at the end of a long queue by placing an order too late!
