The drinks industry is one area where innovative packaging is really taking off. Consumer products, companies and brands all fight for exposure and recognition through various means. Packaging is one area where innovation should really be prominent. The wine industry is where companies can capitalize on this to stand out from the crowd. Wine bottles are the same in design with only stand out features being the label. Not anymore though, with creative and innovative packaging a wine brand can really get notice on the shelf.

Innovative packaging for the drinks industry

The first example is from Revelry Vintners from Washington State. Their patent pending “REVELution” cask incorporates both innovation and function. Its special features allow it to hold nearly twice as much wine as a standard bottle, it is not susceptible to cork taints and keeps wine fresh for week after opening. Of course its also recyclable.

Why innovative packaging is important?

The aspect of packaging is important for some key reasons. In order to keep a fresh image in the minds of the customers the product needs to update, refresh or modernize its image, as consumer brand image starts with the packaging appearance. Different packaging aspects need to take into consideration the market of the product, such a climate, culture, consumer preferences and so on. Especially of concern now is the amount of waste that packaging produces. Products that are so called “green” are becoming very popular and brands should jump on board with this idea. “Green” products can be said to be products with less packaging, less throw away packaging, and recyclable materials used in packaging.
