Promotional Products Week (PPW) will take place from the 12th-16th September 2016. The aim of this event is to raise the profile of promotional products and encourage their use within the marketing mix. ODM has been tracking this event on Twitter, which is a great tool to find out what the most trending topics are.

Last year, companies in the UK spent almost £1bn on promotional merchandise. Firms happily spend an average of up to £5 an item to get their marketing message across to consumers. This is why the BPMA has invested in buyers and consumers attitudes to promotional gifts.

The mascot of this year’s Promotional Product Week is a Free Promo Elephant, to help with the official tweet #promoteyourbrand! PPWeek has partnered up with Pancreatic Cancer UK to promote and help raise £10,000 for Pancreatic Cancer. Last year, the mascot was a panda plush. Promotional plush toys can be personalized using t-shirt or other apparel item or an embroidery on the plush toy itself, also hang tags or sewn in labels can be used. Personalized promotional plush toys can represent the brand at its best and feature core values of the company.

Research shows that 89% of people will keep a promotional item if it’s useful. It’s much more than just a freebie. PPWeek is about companies recognising the value of promotional products and understand the many different ways they can improve brand awareness.

Promotional Product Week showcases promotional merchandise at its best highlighting its essential role in the marketing mix and explaining why it was continually used by marketers keen to make an impact.
