Bordeaux is one of the most, if not the most, famous wine regions in the world. Therefore it is no surprise that this is the location where the Vinexpo is held every other year. It is the largest gathering for wine and spirit producers in the world. With this year seeing 2,400 exhibitors from all over the world showing off their products in front of almost 50,000 visitors. This type of event provides a great opportunity for advertisement due to it’s exposure to media and large number of visitors.
At the ODM group we tracked this event on twitter to find out which topics were most talked about. This way we found out about new and interesting promotional market trends. One interesting new product that was mentioned a lot was an innovative wine opener from Coravin. This type of product would make for a great high-end promotional gift. For this event we also made a list of the most active tweeters.
Promotional market trends observed at Vinexpo 2015
One market trend that we noticed was the high focus on POS displays. Companies try to differentiate themselves from their competitors and make their showcase stand out. Having a unique and visually stimulating POS display is a good way of doing this. This trend has also been observed in China where our business is located. The wine industry is growing faster in China than anywhere else in the world, and market trends are quickly adopted here. As seen below there is a lot of focus on premium displays and gift with purchases. This adds perceived value to the product as well as generating brand awareness.
