The Dragon Boat Festival also known as 端午節 (Duānwǔ Jié) or Tuen Ng Festival, is a holiday mainly celebrated in China, Hong Kong as well as Macau.

During this Festival, people would eat rice dumplings, or as Chinese would call them 粽子(zongzi), and watch boats in the shape of dragons race against each other.

Rice Dumplings

The story behind this festival tells of a poet and high ranking official named Qu Yuan, who committed suicide by drowning himself in a river on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. As news reached locals ears, locals immediately set out in dragon boats, paddled hard, to retrieve his body. Some, on the other hand, made dumplings to offer to the fishes in the river so they would not eat his body.

As this is a public holiday in China, our Zhuhai Office would be closed on Friday, 22nd of June, and would only be re-opened on Monday. Nevertheless, our Hong Kong Office will still be open and you are welcome to send your queries through!
