We spotted a high end tea promotion during a visit to department stores in the Zhabei district of Shanghai, close to the train station. Whilst the stores sold some very cheap products, a good selection of gifts was on show as commuters travel long distances to see their loved ones by train.
Many people have the perception that China is a very poor country still, but people there do pay for quality, especially when it comes to high end brands. Nevertheless, we were surprised to see very high end tea selling in a run down shopping center for over US$100.
The wooden serving spoon makes an excellent gift with purchase & increases the perveived value of the box set.
West Lake Dragon Well Tea is very famous & tasty. It comes from around Hangzhou and we learned much more about it during factory visits.
