French Promotional Items company Promo Cadeaux has asked us to post some key figures about the French market to celebrate the National Holiday on 14th July. This survey has been made by 2FPCO, the professional association of promotional products in France, in June 2011 :
The market for promotional items represents 4.4% of the overall market for communications in France (source IREP 2011), the equivalent to the entire display market (public transport advertising and street billboards).
Compared to traditional media, promotional items offer the best return on investment (ROI). Example, an accessory for writing the CMI (average cost per impression) is €0.003, for a T-shirt with the CMI it is €0.009, while it is an estimated €0.055 cost per contact for a TV campaign (Study JC Decaux 2010).
This study demonstrates the strong impact of promotional items. They are primarily visual because it strengthens the memory of a brand:
The advertising material is delivered on various locations:
People who receive promotional products on average have more than of more than 2 categories of promotional items in their possession (2.6):
The higher the cost of the product, the longer the object is kept:
In terms of bestsellers, France is following the international market: the casings for Smartphones, customizable silicone products, design products. These all attract customers.
Over the year 2012 in France, due to legislative developments, the Breathalyzer will be the product of the year.
However it is always the basic products that are popular such as writing instruments, USB sticks, T-shirts, caps, calendars, key chains, shopping bag.
There is also new trend among promotional items; the gifts of well-being and eco-friendly products.
