What Is Plastisol Printing?
Plastisol printing is a branding technique for fabric that uses the same materials and almost similar processes to screen printing. The one key difference between both decoration methods is the ink used for branding and transferring the designed image to the promotional product.
In plastisol printing, plastisol ink is used which is made with PVC (polyvinyl chloride) and plasticizers. These plastisol inks have vibrant colours that can be easily mixed to achieve the desired Pantone colour of the design.
Why Plastisol Printing Is Preferable For Your Promotional Products?
1. Vibrant Design
The use of plastisol printing is advantageous for darker colour fabrics because of is opacity. Brands can use light colours and don’t worry whether or not it will be translated to the finished product.
2. Easy to Use
Plastisol ink does not get dry even when you leave it for a long time since it has to be cured at a set temperature for a certain but short period of time. Most of the plastisol inks simply need to be mixed.
3. Durable
Another great benefit of using plastisol printing is its durability. Once cured, the ink on the fabric will last for a long time and will not easily fade against washing.
However, since the plastisol printing has to be cure or heated, it’s not advisable to iron shirts or uniforms with plastisol ink because it’ll crack.
4. Versatile
Unlike its water-based counterparts, plastisol inks can be applied on any type of fabric like synthetic, or a mixture of several fabric types.
Because it stays on top of the garment, the colour of the fabric does not affect this printing technique as well. It can be applied on both dark and light coloured textiles.
5. Added Depth
As noticeable in the image above, plastisol ink does not form a bond within the fabric but rather stays on top of it.
For this reason, and the natural thickness of the ink, there is depth that elevated the design on the promotional product and the brand itself. On top of that, it makes the design pleasing to the touch.
