The most important Chinese holiday, the Spring Festival is fast approaching and we wanted to share our analysis of Chinese New Year Dates. When is ODM closed for Chinese New Year?

ODM will be closing our offices to celebrate this Spring festival as well!
Our China office is closed from 8th February to 19th February and our Hong Kong office is closed from 11th February to 13th February.

Factories do not have fixed Chinese New Year dates in 2013

Operations in our China Factories will be halted during Chinese New Year period. We gathered Chinese New Year dates from some of our main factories. Typically factories will close for at least 2 weeks. Many of the factory component and raw material suppliers may close down as early as 4 weeks prior to the holidays.

Impact on production time

It is important to keep in mind that for at least a week in February your suppliers may not be working and you will need to adjust your production and auditing schedules accordingly. In order to minimize the disruption to your business, you have learned to order a three-month supply to be delivered before the start of Chinese New Year.

Through careful forecasting and early buying, you are able to bypass the problems caused by the build-up of orders during the holiday, as well as the slow start faced by the factories when large numbers of employees do not return after the break. Even if employees come back on schedule, the factories will take a few days to get back into the proper rhythm.
