Today, we are featuring Disney’s Frozen 2 Movie Merchandise, which we recently came across in retail.
In conjunction with Pyrex, they manufactured a variety of merchandise ; food containers and thermostats.
Movie Merchandise – Who’s the target audience?
The Frozen‘s main protagonist – Elsa, is being featured on the thermostats. This would definitely have an appeal to fans of the movie, and the product, alongside the color scheme looks as if they are targeted to girls. These Frozen movie items are lovely items that these girls would definitely fall in love with.
However, this might not be restricted to age. There are many adult fans who have shown loyalty to Disney movies. Disney have secured a lot of patrons to their movies and content over the years with the help from their branding strategies. This long lasting relationship with their fans proves that they were successful at branding.
Why Thermostats & Food Containers?
In terms of promotional merchandise, there are no strict rules of which product will help represent your movie the most. Most often times, you probably wouldn’t be able to make profitable merchandise that has got to do with the movie. Therefore, movie merchandise should otherwise be consumer oriented.
With such a diverse audience and fan base, it would make more sense in a marketing perspective for Disney and Pyrex to use merchandise that speaks universally to the mass market. Thermostats and food containers are not limited to a particular demographic, therefore gives potential value to anyone or whoever that enjoys the movie.
Alongside the merchandise, they even have their own dedicated POS Display strategically located in front of the counter. This is an amazing demonstration of how POS Displays should work. To encourage impulsive purchase, POS Displays are placed in front of the counter so that customers who are queueing for payment could take some time to check out their products. It definitely caught our attention for sure.
