Promotional Products in Support of a Charity

The great example we see here is of Lifeboat Tea which is brand of tea under the Williamson Tea business. The actual Tea Brand has an interesting story to how it was created. The brand was created by survivors of a team of sailors who wanted to show their gratitude to the RNLI (Royal National Lifeguard Institution) for saving their lives in a storm.

How the “Lifeboat Tea” brand used promotional products to raise public awareness.

The Lifeboat Tea brand is sold in selected supermarkets throughout the UK and 7 pence from each sale goes directly to the RNLI. The promotional products serve to further bring awareness to the cause as the item itself is not sold extensively so alternative brand promotion is needed. The promo items also feature the same exact design as the teabag box so it makes the brand easy to recognize. The marketing gifts feature a mug, a tea towel and coasters all of which are are functional and relatable products for drinking tea. Using tea as a consumer brand product to promote the RNLI foundation was also a smart move as the UK is a nation of tea lovers with a long history of openness to donating to charity.
