Chabot Armagnac is using lots of marketing tricks to drive sales in liquor stores in Asia right now.   This is a case study of their efforts in a shop in Macau.

The brand is running a first campaign near the entrance, using a wine barrel as a Point of Display area.   Placed on top are a selection of bottles offered by the brand and a gift with purchase, a bag which you can redeem when you buy 2 bottles from their range.

The second in-store promotion revolves around a more regular POS display area located in the center of the store.  See image below…

Promo Watches by Chabot

Promotional Shelf talkers advertise the brand and special offer of another gift with purchase.    Here clients can redeem a free watch with purchases over around US$100 on their range of spirits.

Mens watches are very popular as gifts and the silver face and bracelet give the promo a very high end look.   Some other examples of promotions by spirits companies from our blog for your reading pleasure….

Notice also that the bottle packaging and display in form of birds is very eye catching and this again helps the brand stand out from the competition.

Overall great marketing mix and tiered promotional products campaign from Chabot.

  • A Word on the usage of Geese in the Marketing for this Alcohol. Using your history can be a key factor in successfully building luxury brands and image..

At Chabot's, geese were used as guardians of the premises where the oldest Armagnac brandies were kept in the deep, dark ageing cellars. Better than dogs and carefree, they prevented any attempt by strangers to penetrate the cellars. CHABOT no longer uses geese as guardians, but the tradition of making unmatched quality Armagnac still remains after 150years.

In celebration of the 150TH Anniversary of the Company, it was decided that Haviland, The World Renowned Limoges porcelain manufacturers would revive the ancient tradition by designing, modeling and creating en exclusive "Objet d'art" in porcelain representing a Gascony Goose.

CHABOT then filled this unique porcelain decanter with their finest XO Armagnac, smooth, mellow and gold in colour from the long years of quiet ageing in their cellars.a
