During a visit to Taiwan we recently spotted this eye-catching marketing window display from Nikon. These laser engraved awards are used to showcase the Nikon D3 camera winning the prestigious 2008 TIPA awards. The camera won the award for best professional DSLR camera. Advertising this achievement will increase their brand awareness and increase the likelihood of people buying their products. By using a golden dragon in one of the trophies they also adapted to the local market. Gold is considered to be the most prestigious colour and associated with wealth and luxury, even more so than in other cultures.
How does this marketing window display attract customers?
By advertising awards won by the company, it appears more prestigious in the eyes of the customer. The eye-catching designs used in this case means that people are more likely to notice it. The perceived value of the product will be increased and customers will be willing to pay a higher price for it. By adapting your marketing campaign to the local culture it’s effectiveness will increase. This is why most companies these days have moved away from standardized products and services, to ones that are modified to fit with the consumer needs of that country. What we noticed from this shop, and other ones that we walked past is that Nikon had better visibility than their competitors. Their marketing efforts paid off and customers are much more likely to purchase their products.
