It is our annual tradition to release custom promotional socks as we have been doing this for 7 years in a roll. Chinese New Year is our favourite occasion of the whole year. We want to share this delight with our Lucky Lunar Socks – inspired by the 12 Chinese Zodiac. Meet the star of this year – Tim the Water Tiger.

Say Hello to Tim the Water Tiger!
According to the myth, the twelve animals representing the Chinese Zodiac were selected through a race to the Jade Emperor’s birthday. Following the Ox, the Tiger finished in third. Tiger carries the symbolic traits of bravery, competitiveness, subtlety, and self-confidence. People born in the year are very charming and strongly attractive to others.
Year of the Tiger are 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, 2022, 2034. With steel spirit and indomitable fortitude, team Tigers can be great competent leaders!
Charity
Last year, we had the honor to collaborate with The Christina Noble Children’s Foundation, ODM’s and Mindsparkz ‘s partner charity. We intend to also collaborate with CNCF as a charity partner in 2022.
Since arriving in Vietnam (1989) and Mongolia (1997), Christina Noble and her foundation have established over 160 projects providing education, healthcare, and community development humanitarian services to vulnerable and destitute children and their families and poor rural communities. To date, these projects have assisted almost 900,000 children and collectively have impacted the lives of over 1,000,000 children and adults.

Did you know that blue is the lucky color for this Tiger Year? Therefore, we all decided to go with the blue background in the first design! The two versions with the color combination of saffron yellow and red – a vivid CNY spirit, were carried out.

Product Specifications
Moving into manufacturing, our advice is to check with suppliers the color of fabric and thread from the swatch book. By doing so, we can avoid dealing with problems of miscoloring or shortage of the material needed.

When all the colors are sure to be available, we finished the official design of the whole product with a complete color scheme for the socks.

Material
Following the 2021 Year of the Ox, the socks this year remain high-quality in the fabric used. Replacing polyester with polyamide, which gives wearers a more comfortable and pleasant feel as the fibers are softer and more flexible. The fabric is widely used in socks manufacturing, as it has a very high resistance to friction. Polyamide is ideal for protecting your beautiful feet, ensuring good muscle compression, and keeping your feet dry while jogging.
The socks are made of 76%Cotton, 22%polyamide, and 2%Spandex.
Paper Tags Instead of Plastic
Why would we have to choose plastic packaging when we can go with a unique designed tag? A new year comes is a step further for us to come closer to the environmental-friendly commitment. With the tag, we can also deliver our little message – a New Year greeting to each of the sock users. Even though this equals incurring additional cost, but if we can both spread the love to our customers and the environment, why won’t we?

This collectible socks project will not be possible without the help and close collaboration of everyone in the ODM and Mindsparkz team. Although the process is long and arduous, it is definitely worthwhile, and will do it again for the future zodiac years!
