How glow in the dark ink works

Glow in the dark ink is scientifically known as “Phosphorescent Ink” due to the fact it is made using phosphors. Phosphorescent materials absorb energy from the sun, or artificial light and release it slowly over time. Although you cannot see it during the day, the light is always being released. Copper-activated zinc sulphide is usually used for things such as toys, whereas strontium aluminium is used for more serious things such as lighting emergency exits. This is due to the fact that strontium aluminium is 10 times stronger than copper activated zinc sulphide. Glow in the dark ink is now in its 4th generation. This ink shines brighter and longer than ever before.

How glow in the dark ink manufacturing works

Glow in the dark ink can be screen printed, or litho printed. It essentially involves adding the phosphors to standard ink, and using the same printing methods as normal. The main thing to consider is that glow in the dark ink cannot be printed as intricately as standard ink. As intricate details will require finer phosphors, which will reduce the level of glow. It is also important to note that phosphorescent ink doesn’t cover other inks too well, so when using it, it is best to stick to a black or white background.
