Project Overview

For Hawkridge Distillers Ltd., ODM Group developed a custom LED bottle label that brought the brand’s existing artwork to life through illumination.

The concept combined distinctive label graphics with an integrated lighting component, creating a feature designed to make the bottle stand out in retail displays, bars and other brand presentation settings.

The Challenge

The project required more than a conventional printed label. The design needed to incorporate an illuminated display while accommodating the bottle’s shape, maintaining the artwork’s visual impact and integrating the necessary electronic components.

The label also needed clearly defined dimensions, material specifications and component details to guide the development and review process.

How ODM Assisted

ODM supported the project through product design coordination and technical specification development, helping translate the visual concept into a product design for review.

Our work included:

• Artwork adaptation: Preparing the label design around the client’s distinctive fish illustration, typography and black-and-turquoise colour scheme.
• Product specification: Documenting the proposed 135 × 80 mm label dimensions and ABS and PET material combination.
• Component integration: Developing the design around a lighting component, protective ABS housing and replaceable-battery requirement.
• Design visualization: Preparing product previews to demonstrate how the illuminated label would appear on the bottle.
• Sample review preparation: Establishing a checklist covering artwork accuracy, logo positioning, colors, dimensions, materials, packaging, and functional testing.

These steps helped establish the design requirements for reviewing the proposed product and its physical sample.

The Solution

The proposed design featured an illuminated label with a striking turquoise fish illustration against a black background. When switched on, the lighting highlighted the artwork and key branding elements, creating a distinctive visual effect against the transparent bottle.

The technical design specified a compact housing and a replaceable-battery arrangement. Color references included black, white, and Pantone 7473 C, supporting consistency between the approved artwork and the intended product design.

The result was a custom packaging concept that combined visual design with an integrated electronic feature.
