The General Administration of Customs and the Customs Department have recently decided to halt export on a number of items to Hong Kong resulting in a China Export Ban. Whilst this effects the HK market there are some serious knock on effects for the Global Promotional Products industry. HK Airport and shipping container ports are important for global shipping and we have reports of other shipments too for Europe being held up where products are Trans-Shipping the SAR.
This means that many businesses cannot receive their products due to the delays in inspection and further suspension until the protests are over. If you are thinking of manufacturing a promotional product in China, read ahead to find out which products are banned. There is a long list of products which are banned and this is updated to November 2019.
Its a long list and subject to change with a moments notice so speak to us early to make sure you plan accordingly.
Despite the extensive list, there are alternative items for these products which can be manufactured in China to avoid the ban. There are ways of getting your hands on these products through different ports and shipping routes but this may take longer and be costly.
Another option of avoiding the ban is contacting our office in Vietnam. Our staff can help design your products with our in-house team; Mindsparkz, visit factories, manufacture locally and ship your items within the same time period as ODM do in China. This way, the China export ban will not impact your business.
