Global Sourcing Fair in Vietnam: What Is It?
The Global Sourcing Fair is Vietnam’s first-ever expo dedicated to international trade. It is held last April 26 to 28, 2023 and had more than 500+ booths and 10,000+ trade visitors.
The Global Sourcing Fair aims to foster business-to-business relationships by including fashion parades, business matching, investment forums and tours during the duration of the expo. It features three main industries from Vietnam which are home decor, gifts and fashion for a one-stop shop opportunity for businesses participating.
Global Sourcing Fair Walkthrough
Our team is one of the trade show visitors and made sure every bit of our time is effectively used. For starters, everyone’s given an ID including the company name and a bar code. It also has a QR code for more guidelines in exploring the expo.
Like any other anticipated fair, the organizers ensure the safety of everyone through identification cards.
On that note, our team did not pass on checking the lanyards provided by the fair for trade visitors. It is appropriately coloured, in bright orange, so it’s easier for everyone to be identified at one glance.
However, the white font colour used in printing on the lanyard is overpowered by the bright orange.
It is worth noting as well that the print is of good quality along with the metal clip.
Home Decor Section
The first stop is the home decoration section which consists of home furniture, storage, kitchenware and home decor. Here are some products that caught our interest.
Vietnam has no shortage in terms of woodcraft and the Global Sourcing Fair managed to showcase just that.
In this specific stall, for example, we’re introduced to a wide range of home furniture made from wood with high-quality intricate designs.
From chairs to lid containers, every business will find something suitable for their market and promotion.
Every visitor to the trade show probably widened their eyes when they see these bamboo buildings.
It is intricate in design but it’s noticeable right away what type of building or famous landmark it is designed after even without the usual colours.
The bamboo mould is first created and then, each bamboo piece is hand placed to the decor. It also has LED lights inside which adds appeal to the bamboo decors.
Gifts Section
The next Global Sourcing Fair section is the gifts section which consists of handicrafts premium products and gift packaging.
When it comes to target marketing, while kids don’t have much buying power, they do have pester power. And so, businesses targeting kids are always on the lookout for fresh, stimulating and safe promotional products that their parents will definitely approve of.
These toy puzzles are a perfect product idea that checks out all standards mentioned above.
This product was even made to look like a book so the place where kids will complete their puzzles will be fixed on the book. It also has a theme like under the water and various community works.
One of the gifts that never go out of style despite the digital age that people are living in now is notebooks, memo pads and books.
They’re classics that help anyone organize their thoughts and various to-do lists for everyday work and living.
For that reason, this product idea is a staple for businesses targeting employee care, students, or client appreciation.
Our team also stumbled upon a USB with a matte finish. It is light and has a ring or chain that can be attached to any bag, purse or key.
A perfect example is the branded tote bag that came with it! It is made from canvas with a button to close it.
It also has an extra string inside with another button to close that can be used to hang smaller trinkets and the USB is a perfect fit for it.
Since gifts are usually packed in a box customised to the brand giving the promotional gifts, it is also a part of the Global Sourcing Fair.
After all, people’s first impression of the gift will largely rely on how it is presented.
The gift box we came across has a glossy surface that is branded through foil stamping, giving the branded packaging a more elegant look.
Fashion Section
The last section of the expo is the fashion section which introduces visitors to a wide range of fabrics, garments, accessories and bags that Vietnam can offer.
There are a lot of high-quality fabrics available for international trade but this certain fabric had our team looking closer.
However, it’s worth noting that the visual of the fabric depends on the quality of the fur used.
It is fluffy to look at and touch. One look and we instantly thought of the variety of promotional merchandise ideas that can be brought to life through it! It can be made into a huggable plushie or even a pencil case!
From custom shirts to jackets and sportswear, the fashion section is full of apparel that can be leveraged by brands.
The wide range of types and garments that are available certainly gives every trade visitor plenty of choices and ideas for their next marketing campaign.
Bags are undeniably the best pair to any apparel and much like the variety in the clothes people wear, there are a lot of types of bags featured in the exhibition.
This specific one is a backpack with multiple pockets for organization. It is best for outdoor activities and for an active target market.
Tote bags are everywhere nowadays for their practicality. They appeal to a wide range of markets.
The simplicity of its bag design made it a go-to bag option whenever they need a quick run outside but have to carry several things with them.

Another type of bag that is more targeted at kids, students and young adults is the drawstring bag. It is also known as a cinch bag or gym sack.
It is mainly made from canvas with rope strings that can be pulled to close the bag. The same ropes also serve as the bag’s straps.
