The quiet yet elegant Rabbit (兔) is the zodiac animal for the coming Chinese New Year 2023! In Chinese culture, the Rabbit is known for its unique characteristic of waiting for a favourable moment and then leaping into action. Let us help you take the lead, just like the wise rabbit and plan ahead for your CNY promotions with our year of the Rabbit socks!

Year of the Rabbit Socks

There are 12 animal signs in the Chinese zodiac or Sheng Xiao (生肖), a repeating twelve-year cycle where each year is represented by an animal and its reputed attributes, based on the lunar calendar. They are ranked in the following order: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig.

Each sign is named after an animal, and each animal has its own unique characteristics. But how does the Rabbit rank fourth among the zodiac animals?

Year Of The Rabbit: Prosperity and Good Fortune

The story is widespread (and widely varying) among Chinese people but the story of The Great Race is among one of the most popular.

According to the myth, the Jade Emperor decided that there should be a way of measuring time for people. This resulted in a race, where the animals had to cross a rapid current river and reach the finish line on the shore. There could only be twelve winners and the zodiac animals were the ones who aced the competition.

Next to arrive after the Tiger is the Rabbit, who hadn’t swum to cross at all. He had hopped from one stone to another and fortunately found a floating log to carry him to the finish line earning fourth place in the race.

Meet Rita, the Water Rabbit!

Year of the Rabbit Socks

More than any other zodiac animal, the Rabbit symbolizes luck. People who are born in the year of the Rabbit are calm and peaceful.

2023 is the year of the Water Rabbit. In Chinese astrology, water means longevity and peace, and the Rabbit is a symbol of vigilance, wittiness, cautiousness, deftness, and self-protection.

Furthermore, in Chinese mythology, the Rabbit is the only zodiac animal to live together with the Goddess Chang’e in the Moon. China named its first robotic lunar rover Jade Rabbit, which roved the moon’s surface in late 2013.

Year of the Rabbit includes 1915, 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011, 2023

Creating Rita: The Step-By-Step Process

Every great promotional product design started off as a mere sketch and goes through a long and arduous design process.

To create something that is visually appealing, easy to understand and memorable – designers have to transform a complex idea into a simple message that can be easily understood by the target audience. It should also be able to capture the attention of your audience so they will remember it once they have seen it.

Let us take you to the journey of creating Rita, our Year of the Rabbit icon!

Reference + Sketch

A reference is important in the design process because it allows designers to see what something looks like in various ideas and styles before they start working on a project. It also helps them to understand what they want to see as the final product.

And like every other project, the Year of the Rabbit Socks started with draft sketches. You can see below our references in making Rita as well as the sketches we have produced in the early stage of the process.

Computer Design

After finalising the sketches, designers digitised them for further touches. Sketch digitalisation allows designers to see how their designs will look when they are put into reality. It is also useful for checking that all of the ideas fit together and that they have been properly thought out.

Colour Matching

Colour matching helps product designers to create a unified look. Colour is an indispensable part of the design, and it can either break or make the success of your promotional product.

Here are some vibrant versions from our colour matching process:

But Seriously, Why Socks?

Chinese New Year is our favourite season of the year. It has been our annual tradition to release custom promotional socks and we have been doing this since 2016!

By producing Lucky Lunar Socks inspired by the 12 Chinese zodiacs, we hope to share the delight with our dear clients and their customers.

A good pair of socks can make a big difference in how you connect with your target audience. It can help you stand out from your competitors and show that you care about your customers.

Socks are soft and comfortable, which makes them ideal for wearing all day long. They can be worn with any outfit, whether it’s smart or casual and they go well with almost anything in your wardrobe.

As well as being fun and quirky, socks can also be used to create memorable experiences around your brand. Let us show you some ways below:

How to Celebrate CNY 2023 With Our Rabbit Socks?

Socks are a great way to get people talking.

They can be a beneficial marketing tool that you can leverage to strengthen event branding, especially during holidays like the coming Chinese New Year.

They are a little more personal than a T-shirt or mug and are interesting because they’re not just for wearing on your feet; they can help make your brand more visible.

You can offer them as an event merchandise item — like an extra prize in a raffle — or use them as an incentive for people who attend your event.

Socks are inexpensive and they also give customers something nice to take home.

They offer a great way to engage your audience, especially because socks are a relatively small item that people wear every day.

If you’re offering them as part of a GWP promotion, make sure that the package includes some kind of explanation about how wearing socks improve your health or helps you perform better at work.

This will help build goodwill for your brand and might even lead to sales down the road.

Looking for a way to make people smile and feel good about their purchase from your brand?

You might love to consider creating special offers that include socks in your promotional pack or as part of a package deal!

It is a unique way to draw attention to your product’s packaging and make it easier for customers to find what they’re looking for.

As they are versatile and practical promotional products, you don’t have to worry if they will fit the industry you are in.

Add some fun and personality to your direct mail with custom design socks!

People love receiving something that they can use, and socks are worn by most people on a daily basis making them an obvious choice for marketing purposes.

Lightweight and portable, you can easily include them in your direct mail package or custom SWAG box.

They are a fantastic way to add some surprise to your marketing efforts without breaking your budget.

It’s Never Too Early!

The following months might get busier and it is crucial to plan ahead, especially since the holidays are coming. If you are doing business in China, you have to know that factories are closing even before the Chinese New Year holiday. Read more about it here:
