How Does Nestlé x Avatar Use Promotion Packaging in Movie Marketing?

We’ve already tackled how important product packagings are since they’re the first point of contact of the brand with the consumers. To add to that, we’ll talk about promotion packaging and how brands make full use of their packaging like the world’s largest food and beverage company, Nestlé.

Nestlé x Avatar: Win Avatar Prizes!

Our team couldn’t miss this ongoing promotion from Nestlé in one of the UK supermarkets we visited for two things: the promotion packaging and the promotion itself. In partnership with the highly anticipated instalment of the Avatar movie, the two brands released a promotion packaging with interesting prizes.

The main promotion ran from November 1 until December 23, 2022, the brand gave away 2,500 bamboo water bottles and 2,500 branded drawstring bags. The fun doesn’t end there, however, because they’re giving away another 50 of each prize for the late draw that runs from December 24, 2022, up to February 24, 2023.

On top of that, people can grow their own plants from the movie by cutting the designated part of the packaging and scanning the QR code provided.

How Did Nestlé Use Its Promotion Packaging To The Fullest?

1. Promotion Advertisement

The brand made full use of the product packaging by utilising itself as an advertisement. As we can see from the image, it’s very noticeable especially when the products are lined up.

The multinational company doesn’t even have to utilise shelf space marketing tools like shelf wobblers and promotional hangsell displays since the packaging itself promotes the product, the movie and the promotion well.

2. Detailed Instructions

Without much effort or difficult mechanics and information for consumers to process, the promotion packaging also has detailed instructions on how to join the promotional giveaway, how to know if they win, and how to play the free AR game.

There are even QR codes to give consumers a choice of how they want to enter the promotion.

3. Two Promos in One Pack

Who told you product packaging can only be for one promotion? Nestlé made full use of theirs by releasing two events that allow catering to a wider audience.

The free AR game targets the younger market that is familiar with technology whereas the practical branded merchandise fits the more mature audience.

Additionally, since people need to cut out the packaging in order to grow their own virtual garden, the brands involved get more exposure for branding and recognition.

4. No Space Wasted

From the packaging’s front up to its back, every space available is utilised to advertise the promotion, aid the consumers into joining and provide them with the needed information to enjoy the free game.

All the while not forgetting the two brands involved and exposing consumers to them, what they can offer and the brand experience they can provide.
