Confectionery Display Stands: 6 Key Points From Pez and Kinder

Much of the most creative displays and marketing strategies are employed by brands that cater to kids. This is simply because these little humans’ attention is hard to sustain and must be approached with utmost care. Hence, here are some key notes from renowned brands, Pez and Kinder, confectionery display stands to get you started.

Confectionery Display Stands

Our team saw these confectionery display stands side by side in one of the retail stores we visited and their interesting features got us hooked. We’re tackling all these interesting points to give you more ideas for your own point-of-sale display.

Pez Circular Display Stand

Pez is a block candy that comes with a candy dispenser which can hold a maximum of 12 Pez candies.

It was first created as a compressed peppermint candy, an alternative to smoking in 1927.

When the brand reached the US, the dispenser featuring characters like Mickey Mouse was introduced.

This continued until today as we can see from the images. The circular confectionery display allows the brand to advertise on all sides and be visible to kids.

This is also evident in the transparent front of their packaging, letting kids know what they will have once they bought it. It’s also giving the impression that it’s just within their reach, which is a hard thing to pass for anyone.

Kinder Joy Mini Store

Kinder is a brand from the Italian chocolate company, Ferrero.

It was created by the son of the company’s founder in his vision for chocolate kids can enjoy.

All aspects of the brand such as the length of its very first product are made to cater to kids, in a length comfortable for them to hold. This is highly visible in their mini-store display that captivates kids’ eyes right off the bat.

Additionally, it is accompanied by an engaging free-standing display unit (FSDU). The FSDU contents go down every time kids take one of the products which stimulates their curiosity as well as spatial sense.

6 Key Notes From Pez and Kinder Confectionery Display Stands

  • 1. Including QR Code

A QR code is a quick way to guide your consumers to your site, promotions or prompt them to install your application. These are just some of the usual functions of QR codes that eases the difficulty for consumers to get in touch with your brand.

It’s a clever move by Pez to include a quick response code that utilises a tool everyone already has with them: their phones. Therefore, it is wise to include one in your own custom display.

In a retail store, it’s imperative there will be shelves that may be taller than your own promotional display. For this reason, it would greatly help your brand to include a cardboard sign on top of your display. Aside from ensuring you will be visible, it also guides consumers to find your product display.

Both Kinder and Pez utilised this strategy which gives them a visible edge over people stepping into the store.

This can be a basic note but as we can see from the confectionery display stands, especially on Kinder, their brand name is everywhere on their display.

It can be seen on the roof of the mini-store, the edges of the mini-store shelves and on both of its sides.

A branded display, especially one designed well, sticks to consumers.

  • 3. Popping colour combinations

Kids are easily charmed by bright and popping colours. Both confectionery display stands utilised this for their own benefit, combining colours of white and red and yellow and blue. This makes it hard for them to ignore your products.

Furthermore, it is important to differentiate your display from your competitors and the store shelves.

  • 5. Within reach

Keeping your display stands at eye level is basic in promotional displays since people’s eyes are trained to look at eye level first and foremost.

However, it’s also imperative to keep your products within reach. Especially if your target market is kids.

These confectionery display stands made it easy for consumers, especially children, to get their products since there are no obstructions and the display height is appropriate for them.

  • 6. Partnering with other brands

Kids largely spend their days in two ways: studying and playing. Much of their playtime these days happens in front of screens like TVs and tablets. Hence, they’re very exposed to kid shows.

Seeing these familiar kid-show characters with your products immediately makes your brand appealing to kids.

Both confectionery display stands employed this from Kinder’s branded FSDU to Pez candy dispensers and product packaging.

What Can We Suggest?

  • Let your displays stand on their own

As we’ve seen, the two branded displays are placed side to side. This might be advantageous to an extent since the regular consumers of both brands get exposed to the other brand. It bumps up brand awareness for both brands.

However, it also meant they may lose potential consumers to each other since they’re both catering to the same market. Moreover, they obstruct each other. Kinder’s brand name on one side of their mini store cannot be properly seen while the circular display and products of Pez are not properly visible to kids.

To avoid this from happening to your custom displays, we suggest you communicate with the store’s director of product marketing.
